Ramzi Linden 2009-02-03 16:32:37-05 Thanks for this report, we will investigate.

Chalice Yao 2009-02-04 02:37:23-05 Reported this on SLDEV a week ago.
It's been affecting branch/trunk with OS Win XP and OpenAL since the very first inclusion of OpenAL, if compiled with OpenAL support.
|
Tofu Linden 2009-02-04 11:26:26-05 VWR-11759 has two patches (foo.patch I am most interested in) which I'd be very interested if 32-bit Linux users could try (one patch at a time).
|
Iskar Ariantho 2009-02-04 16:07:12-05 A workaround, NOT fix is temp disable OpenAL. Its pretty easy, in RC8 (svn>=109348) there is an environment variable which can be commented out. Afterwards SL uses fmod again.
export LL_BAD_OPENAL_DRIVER=x

Chalice Yao 2009-02-05 02:48:31-05 On a note, under XP this only affects MP3 streams. Audio streams in different formats work perfectly.
Can anybody with Linux and before applying this patch move to the sim 'Sick' and see if they get the audio stream there?
If yes, this probably isn't quite GStreamer related, as the XP install uses Quicktime.
|
Iskar Ariantho 2009-02-05 03:12:54-05 Well, under Linux i was able to both play the mp3 at 'sick' with OpenAL forcefully disabled, and with OpenAL after the patch in VWR-11759 . Not without the fix, as gstreamer doesnt even start on my system without it, resulting in no streams at all, audio or video.
|
Chalice Yao 2009-02-05 03:24:35-05 Sick doesn't use an mp3 I think, as it plays for me. (And I tested audio streams with a self-streamed raw *.mp3 address)
Interesting.
Tofu, should I open up a different JIRA about OpenAL on XP only playing audio streams of a certain format?
|
Tofu Linden 2009-02-05 05:17:40-05 Definitely!
|
Iskar Ariantho 2009-02-05 06:36:43-05 Hmm, http://www.versionbeta.jp/trafo2007/4.mp3 looks like an mp3 to me. (http://slurl.com/secondlife/sick/217/123/28 )
Try... uhm. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Huntsbore/172/204/21 . Its streaming DI, which uses a shoutcast and definitly streams mp3's
|
Chalice Yao 2009-02-05 09:57:25-05 Sigh, now I wish I could remember if they changed streams or not. I can't check right now, not at home, but I'll try later again.
If it's the case that it is an mp3, something is...very weird. The stream plays in sick for me...and about nowhere else, and I tried with a straight-streamed mp3 via icecast server to make sure. It doesn't make sense.
I'll visit Sick later again. If the stream doesn't play, they probably changed it to mp3.

Ramzi Linden 2009-02-05 16:18:04-05 Let's track this at essentially the same bug report, VWR-11759.
